Nonresident Fellow

Christina Weiland is a nonresident fellow at the Urban Institute and an associate professor in the University of Michigan School of Education and the Ford School of Public Policy (by courtesy), where she codirects the Education Policy Initiative and directs the university’s Institute of Education Sciences Predoctoral Training Program. Her research focuses on the effects of early childhood interventions and public policies on children’s development, especially on children from families with low incomes. Weiland's work is characterized by strong, long-standing research collaborations with practitioners, particularly the Boston Public Schools Department of Early Childhood. She is also coauthor of the book Cradle to Kindergarten: A New Plan to Combat Inequality. She holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MA in education and PhD in quantitative policy analysis in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
