  • Part 1: Designing and Building Your Apprenticeship Program

Registered apprenticeship programs have five key components:

    • The apprenticeships are paid jobs. Employers provide competitive wages to apprentices during their training.
    • Apprentices gain practical and hands-on experience.
    • The programs include classroom learning through a college or online provider. Many apprentices earn college credits or an associate degree during the program.
    • Apprentices are mentored on the job by an experienced professional. They learn the occupation, company culture, business practices, employment skills, and other knowledge and skills.
    • When apprentices complete the program, they earn a national, portable credential.
