Solving the Real Student Loan Crises

March 24, 2017

Abstract

The common narrative of the student loan crisis in the news media – overwhelming debt, multiple degrees and no job - is largely a distraction from the real problems facing borrowers and taxpayers. Matthew Chingos testified before the House Education and Workforce Subcommittee on Higher Education about the five real crises in student lending that are too often overlooked, and proposed how Congress can address them in the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act.
