This chart presents a summary of findings from the report, Snapshots of America's Families II (October 2000). These data are from the National Survey of America's Families, a survey of more than 42,000 households with and without telephones. The sample is representative of the nation as a whole and of 13 states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. In Alabama, 2301 households were surveyed in 1999.
