The Role of Statistical Models in Planning Juvenile Corrections Capacity

July 17, 2002

Abstract

This report examines the utility of explanatory statistical models for planning correctional space. The report concludes that explanatory models provide relatively little information that policymakers can use. However, they may help to identify the range of factors that shape the demand for juvenile correctional capacity.
