In our ongoing series on America's cities with the Urban Institute, we look at the changing role of urban parks. How many of them are teaming up with non-profit organizations, raising private funds, collaborating with all kinds of partners. The positive impact these collaborations are having on communities in general, not only by providing a nicer place for recreation, but actually having an economic impact on the community, promoting development, reclaiming neighborhoods. So we were forced to ask, "Is all of this happening in Washington, D.C.?" And we found that the answer is, well, yes and no, and kind of, but not.
