About the EditorRob Geen is a senior research associate specializing in child welfare and related child, youth, and family issues at the Urban Institute. His child welfare research has included studies of child abuse and neglect investigation and substantiation, family preservation and family support services, foster care, independent living programs for foster youth, adoption, and the impact of welfare reform on child welfare systems. His previous research on kinship care includes three national surveys of states' kinship care policies, a research synthesis included in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Report to Congress on Kinship Care, a study of alternative kinship care programs established outside of welfare and foster care, and analyses of national data on the well-being of children in kinship care and the services they receive.
