This report presents estimates of state costs of incarcerating illegal aliens in state prisons; state and local costs of providing education for undocumented alien children; and state and local costs of providing emergency medical services under Medicaid for undocumented aliens. The study also includes numbers of undocumented aliens as well as estimates of state income and sales taxes and state and local property taxes paid by undocumented aliens. Included as part of the study are evaluations of the data provided by the states and the methodologies that each state uses to generate its estimates.
