The TJC approach will be piloted in six sites around the country. Each site will receive training and technical assistance over a period of two years to adapt and implement the comprehensive jail/community transition approach that best fits local needs and resources.
In September 2008, NIC and UI selected the first two TJC pilot sites: Denver, Colorado and Douglas County, Kansas. These jurisdictions will serve as learning sites for the TJC approach, helping the TJC team evaluate and refine the model.
In mid-2009, four additional TJC sites will be selected through an open call for applications. The site application process closed June 15, 2009 and site selection is currently underway.
