Welfare Rules Databook and Database

The Welfare Rules Database (WRD) is the primary source of data on state TANF policies nationwide, providing a detailed, longitudinal account of the changes in welfare rules in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It’s the only resource of its kind for tracking state-specific rules, enabling users to query rules directly through a point-and-click interface that spans 30 TANF policy areas. Access the database.

The annual Welfare Rules Databook provides tables containing key Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) policies for each state, as well as longitudinal tables describing selected state policies from 1996 onward, derived from the Welfare Rules Database.
