What is a podcast?

Podcasts are audio files -- usually in MP3 format -- that are available on the web and can be downloaded via an automatic feed. Listen to podcasts on your computer or portable music player (not just iPods.) You can listen to individual files by clicking on them, but the beauty of podcasts is your ability to "subscribe" to the whole series and have new podcasts delivered to you automatically.

How do I subscribe?

To "subscribe" to a podcast and have new podcasts downloaded to you automatically, you'll need podcast software such as iTunes, iPodder or My Yahoo!.

Copy the link for the podcast: http://www.urban.org/rss/UrbanInstitutePodcast.xml. Paste this link into your podcast software. In iTunes you can find this option under the "Advanced" menu as "Subscribe to podcast."

Once you have subscribed, your computer will check for new additions to the podcast every time you launch your podcast program, and download them to your list of available  "episodes."
