Timothy Waidmann ![]() Timothy Waidmann, Ph.D., is a senior research associate whose research focuses on the economics and demography of health, disability, and retirement. He is interested in the roles of Medicare and Social Security Disability Insurance in supporting elderly and near-elderly with chronic health problems. He has studied trends in disability among the elderly and their implication for public financing of health care and is involved in several projects examining the impact of individual health changes on the retirement decisions of older adults. He is also interested in differences in health and the use of health care along lines of ethnicity, race and immigration status. Prior to joining the health policy center in 1996, Waidmann was assistant professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. Publications by Timothy Waidmann
