Health Policy Center, independent research for better health policy: The Urban Institute

Jack Hadley, Ph.D., a former principal research associate with The Urban Institute, is now a visiting scholar in the Health Policy Center while holding the position of Professor and Senior Health Services Researcher in the Department of Health Policy and Administration at George Mason University. His current research focuses on variations in Medicare and total medical care spending per Medicare beneficiary, the relationship between insurance coverage and health outcomes, the costs of expanding insurance to cover the uninsured, and the effects of physicians’ financial incentives in the Medicare program. 

Past studies investigated the financing and costs of care used by the uninsured, the determinants of insurance coverage, consequences of being uninsured, access to care, physician and hospital payment, and outcomes of medical treatment.  Dr. Hadley received a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.
