Thu Nguyen is a Regional Coordinator in the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center. Prior to joining the Urban Institute, Ms. Nguyen worked at the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. There, she helped to provide information on federal programs and opportunities to community-based organizations.

Ms. Nguyen graduated with a B.S. in Urban and Regional Studies and a B.A. in Africana Studies from Cornell University. While there, she researched squatter settlements in Brazil and Egypt. She also gained experience in natural disaster planning through working with the Lower Ninth Ward and Versailles neighborhoods in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Her honors thesis evaluates the suburbanization of low-income ethnic communities in the United States and its impact on political participation at the municipal level.
