Accounting for the Economic Progress of American-Born Asians: 1960-1980 (Research Report)

In contrast to their relative standing in today's labor market, in 1960 American-born men in all Asian groups earned substantially less than comparable Whites. This paper analyzes the large relative gain in the earnings of American-born Asian men by exploring plausible explanations for this progress, namely Asian/White differences in schooling, labor force participation, entrepreneurial and agricultural employment, English language proficiency, and foreign-born parentage.

Identifying Stable Child Status-Work Relationships for Married Women: Insights from Recent Immigrants (Research Report)

This paper tests the robustness of prior work history as a predictor of current labor supply by examining the dynamic labor supply of American-born White women and three ethnically distinct groups of newly arrived immigrants in the United States. Also examined are the consequences of controlling for different aspects of past labor supply.
