Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center
Randy Rosenblatt Rosso is a Research Associate in the Urban Institute's Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center, where he examines indicators of neighborhood change and well-being. He cleaned, organized, and analyzed large national data sets for DataPlace, a web-based resource on housing and community development. Currently, Mr. Rosso is transforming national data sets into meaningful indicators of community well-being to share with the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership. Mr. Rosso also directs the data management and distribution for the Urban Institute's new web-based initiative, MetroTrends. MetroTrends presents commentary and statistics on economic and demographic trends in metropolitan America, incorporating data on housing, employment, poverty, and health care, among other sources. Mr. Rosso also analyzes administrative data for an evaluation of the New Markets Tax Credit program, a tax incentive program to spur investment in disadvantaged communities. Mr. Rosso has investigated patterns in credit scores, credit management, and income and employment in low-income neighborhoods for the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Making Connections initiative.
Before joining the Urban Institute, Mr. Rosso spent seven years researching and writing about food and nutrition policy for Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. and the Food Research and Action Center. He conducted and contributed to quantitative national studies of the Food Stamp Program, school meals programs, and the Summer Food Service Program. He used the Survey of Income and Program Participation and the Current Population Survey to model eligibility and participation in the Food Stamp Program and study asset holdings of participants. He has a Masters in Public Policy from the College of William and Mary.
