Volunteer Management in America's Religious Organizations (Policy Briefs/Volunteer Management Capacity Study)
Kimberly Spring, Robert Grimm

This report is the third in a series of briefs on a 2003 survey of volunteer management capacity among public charities and congregations in the United States. It focuses on volunteer usage and management in congregations with social service programs and charities with a religious mission. The brief explores the types of services these organizations provide and the extent to which they collaborate with other organizations. A key finding is that charities with a religious mission tend to utilize more volunteers and invest more in their volunteer management infrastructure than other charities, while still facing similar challenges in recruiting and managing volunteers.
