Urban Sectoral Training for USAID Staff: Final Report and Recommendations for Future Training (Research Report)

This report summarizes the proceedings and lessons learned from a series of courses on urban development designed for USAID's field staff. There were two courses delivered: Development and Cities (given twice), and Cities and Economic Growth. The former discussed a broad range of urban issues ranging from slum upgrading/participatory management to disaster mitigation, and included participants from both USAID and its partner organizations. The latter covered mobilizing private resources for urban economic growth, the role of local government in promoting economic growth, etc. This final report includes agendas, case studies, evaluation results, focus groups, surveys, and a list of participants.

Report on Communications Strategy Workshop: Kutno, Poland: June 1997 (Research Report)

A communications strategy workshop for the Kutno, Poland, Agro-Industrial Park was held on June 18, 1997. The workshop was a part of the Pilot Local Government Partnership Program (LGPP), in which eight partner cities are participating. The goal of the program is to develop an economic strategy. This report describes the workshop objectives, agenda, and the accomplishments of small brainstorming groups. Included are lists of priorities for the project, an evaluation of the workshop, and questions about the project that remain.
