The Databook on Nonfatal Injury: Incidence, Costs, and Consequences (hardcover) (Book)
Ted R. Miller, Nancy M. Pindus, John B. Douglass, Shelli B. Rossman

The authors provide national data on the costs of injuries by body region, body part, and nature of injury and estimate the long-term consequences of injuries. This information allows hospitals to assess how their length of stay and disability outcomes for specific injuries compare to national averages, tells lawyers and expert witnesses whether a victim's broken arm is worse than average or if its outcome was atypical, gives insurers a sound basis for injury reimbursement categories, and lets program planners and evaluators estimate the cost savings from a bicycle helmet program. An included correction factor for inflation allows readers to update the data.
