The Superior Court Drug Intervention Program in the District of Columbia was a five-year demonstration project to develop and test the feasibility and effect of administering two pretrial interventions for felony drug-involved defendants. This report evaluates the effectiveness of the experimental dockets by measuring the extent to which the costs and benefits for participants of the two experimental dockets differ from those associated with the control (standard) docket. To determine differential outcomes, surveys were administered one year after sentencing. The analysis focuses exclusively on benefits that accrue to the public, exclusive of benefits to participants.
