Solid Waste Stream Analysis Training Manual (Research Report)

This document is a manual to serve the primary clients of Local Government Initiative (LGI) Bulgarian municipalities and local government officials. It addresses a fundamental question about management of municipal solid waste: its quantity and morphological composition. The report opens with an overview of MSW management in Bulgaria and a legislative review. Subsequently, the report lists general waste-stream considerations and provides a waste-stream study plan. Finally, the report gives specific instructions about carrying out an analysis and recommends ways to use the resultant data. Forms for reporting results of analyses are provided in appendixes.

Environmental Impact Assessment of the Municipality of Zlatograd Landfill (Research Report)

This report discusses the environmental impact assessment of the existing landfill for municipal solid waste in the municipality of Zlatograd, analyzes its methods of operation, and draws a conclusion regarding environmental protection of the following components: air, water, soil, noise, harmful emissions, landscape, population, and human settlement area, in compliance with the existing legal requirements and in consideration of its environmental, social, and economic advisability.

Subsequently, the report examines the morphological composition of MSW and provides a quantitative study of the waste. Finally, the report provides projections about the quantity of waste for the municipality.
