Budget Processes, State: From The Encyclopedia of Taxation and Tax Policy (Article)

In almost every state, proposed budgets are put together in the executive branch. While state governments in the United States are often noted for their diverse approaches to politics and policies, their budget processes are to a great extent very similar. This article elucidates the annual procedures whereby state governors submit budgets for legislative review and disposition.
