Student Upward Mobility Initiative 2024 Request for Proposals: Informational Webinars
Body

Webinar One - Friday, March 22, 2024, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT
Webinar Two - Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT

The Student Upward Mobility Initiative, a new initiative to support students’ long-term success, launched its first request for proposals (RFP) this month. This year, we’re investing in innovative projects that (1) develop new or improved PK–12 measures of skills and competencies that may increase economic mobility and (2) analyze the relationship between PK–12 outcomes and economic mobility, especially for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This informational webinar is for interested applicants.

Through this RFP, we expect to award $3 million in grants ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 for projects lasting up to 24 months. To broaden and diversify the field of education-to-economic-mobility researchers, this RFP seeks to promote racial, ethnic, gender, disciplinary, institutional, and geographic diversity and will prioritize applications from scholars who are underrepresented in the social sciences.

Through this multiyear initiative, we will accelerate research to identify drivers of economic mobility that educators and policymakers can use to shape PK–12 practices, programs, interventions, and broader systems change with thoughtful consideration of the interplay between individuals and the context that surrounds them. We will also begin building a field of education-to-economic-mobility scholars.

We will share the same overview content across two dates and times to increase access and convenience.

Attendees will learn about

  • the initiative’s motivation and goals,
  • the RFP’s funding priorities,
  • the application process and how to submit a letter of inquiry, and
  • prospective applicants’ questions about the RFP.

To submit questions before the webinar, please email [email protected]. We will try to answer as many questions as we can during the Q&A session. A recording of the webinar will be made available online afterward. You do not need to attend the webinar to apply to the RFP.
