Cristian Murariu holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Energy and Environment. Since 2002 he has been working with USAID development projects aimed at improving municipal services in Moldova, Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Mr. Murariu acquired management skills as a Senior Program Specialist/Acting Chief of Party for USAID Local Government Reform Project in Moldova where, among other accomplishments, he managed the implementation of 160 demonstration projects in water and wastewater systems, solid waste management, gas distribution systems, roads, and rehabilitation of public buildings. Mr. Murariu is an expert in water systems design and modeling, energy efficiency improvements, utility operational audits, improving commercial systems - including metering and metered billing based on full recovery tariffs, equipment procurement and leak detection/pipe location.

His international expertise includes provision of technical assistance to local governments in rendering community strategic planning, municipal service action planning, holding public hearings, and creation of water users' associations. Mr. Murariu also taught Water Distribution Systems Modeling at the Moldovan Technical University
