Robert Malotte joined the Urban Institute’s Center on International Development and Governance (IDG) in September 2011 as the International Program Manager. Mr. Malotte’s responsibilities include financial management, document review and authorization, compliance with Urban Institute policies and donor rules and regulations, and the overall administrative operations for the center. Additionally, he supervises IDG center administrative and research staff assigned project backstopping responsibilities.

Mr. Malotte has nearly a quarter of a century of international development experience. For the first ten years of his career he worked overseas, beginning as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Papua New Guinea and later employed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Namibia and Ethiopia. In 1998 he relocated from Africa to Washington DC where he has worked for a number of Not-for-Profit Non-Governmental Organizations. Mr. Malotte has experience with all of the major funding organizations (governmental, multilateral, and foundations) and he speaks Melanesian Tok Pisin and Amharic.

Areas of expertise: International operations, program management, field office finance, proposal development, contracts, budgets, audits, training, and U.S. Agency for International Development rules and regulations compliance.
