15th Anniversary of the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy

Many thanks to all who joined us in person or online this Fall for the Center’s 15th Anniversary events.  We concluded with a dynamite discussion on the Future of the Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy.  You can access the sessions (see titles below) on the Urban Institute website. For the session on performance management, the discussion and ideas are summarized in a new report entitled, Tough Times, Creative Measures: What Will It Take to Help the Social Sector Embrace an Outcomes Culture?

In other news, we are excited about the upcoming March launch of PerformWell, the new name for the performance management portal that we are developing with Child Trends and Social Solutions.  In addition, NCCS has released an update of basic data on the nonprofit sector, The Nonprofit Sector in Brief: Public Charities, Giving and Volunteering 2011, a precursor of the Nonprofit Almanac available next year. We also have newly updated giving data compiled by the Nonprofit Research Collaborative--a cost effective collaboration designed to generate timely data on giving.  View the report.

Our new project with the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, has a website where you can follow events and papers. Check out Gene Steuerle’s recent testimony, Tax Treatment of Charities and Major Budget Reform before the Senate Finance Committee.

We hope that you will visit the Center’s webpage for publications and events,  NCCS webpage for the latest available data and NCCS Form 990 Online for Form 990 software.  As always we welcome your feedback and ideas.
