Somala Diby is a research assistant in the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center. Her research interests include urban development, neighborhood development, housing, race, ethnicity, class, and gender. She is involved in several community-based neighborhood development projects in Washington, DC, including the Promise Neighborhood initiative in Kenilworth-Parkside and Promoting Adolescent Sexual Health and Safety in a public housing development. She also supports research on affordable housing, two-generation models, and food bank operations.
Diby graduated from Columbia University in 2015 with a BA in urban studies.
