I was drawn to Urban because it was an opportunity to work in a highly visible and noteworthy research organization. Furthermore, I enjoy interacting with the research staff and appreciate the work that they do.
Michael Artis is the director of Facility and Office Services at the Urban Institute, where he is responsible primarily for the procurement of capital furniture and equipment. Artis also plans, directs, and monitors the activities and operations of the Facility and Office Services department, including asset management and supervision of facility construction and renovation. He manages the telephone system and operation of the mailroom and the photocopy center at Urban. In addition, he coordinates with the building management company on relevant matters. Artis attended the University of the District of Columbia.
