Urban's commitment to evidence-based, nonpartisan solutions sets it apart from the many sources of information and policy recommendations in today's society. Strong partnerships between our researchers and philanthropists make this important work possible. I am pleased to be a part of efforts to build these relationships and effectively communicate Urban's value and impact.
Lila Turner is development manager at the Urban Institute. She collaborates with Urban's development staff, senior leadership, and research teams to cultivate relationships with individual, foundation, and corporate philanthropists, attracting funds to support Urban's diverse work.
Turner brings experience working with diverse national and international nonprofits to improve their fundraising capabilities. Before assuming her current position, she was an associate director at Orr Associates Inc., a premier consulting firm working exclusively with nonprofits. During her time there, she was a fundraiser for College Summit, a nonprofit that increases college enrollment and success rates for low-income students nationwide. Additionally, Turner worked with various organizations to conduct development assessments and feasibility studies, the findings of which informed key strategic decisions.
