After working for the government for a number of years, I wanted a change and to work on something more directly socially responsible and was intrigued when I looked at Urban’s website. I love technical work and helping people.
Kara Harkins is a programmer/analyst in the Information Technology department at the Urban Institute. She is primarily responsible for programming the TRIM, NICC, SLF-DQS, and WRD web interfaces, and works to develop and maintain the associated databases as well as the databases for the CCDF and TAACCCT projects.
Before joining Urban, Harkin worked as an applications programmer contractor for the federal government. She is fluent in multiple computer languages and technologies, and holds degrees in both physics and computer science.
