James Gastner is a research assistant with the Policy Advisory Group at the Urban Institute. Before joining Urban, he interned with the DC Fiscal Policy Institute at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where he coauthored a report that compared the District’s property taxes with neighboring counties, and he examined how exceedingly long wait times at Economic Security Administration Service Centers affect low- and middle-income populations. He also interned for US Representative Katherine Clark of Massachusetts.
Gastner graduated from Swarthmore College, where he received a BA in economics and political science.
