Biography

Jim Crawford is a regional coordinator in the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center at the Urban Institute, where he has assisted with the implementation of data collection and fieldwork protocols, helped train field staff, and continues to provide ongoing supervision and quality control analysis of research data.

Before joining Urban, Crawford coordinated the Office of the Ombudsman for the Chicago Housing Authority, where he worked with low-income families as they transitioned from traditional public housing developments to new mixed-income communities. As part of this transition, he worked with residents to address a number of issues, including fair housing considerations, community participation, continuing education, and career development counseling.

Crawford obtained his BA in political science and economics from North Central College in 2004 and his MPP from the Irving B. Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago in 2009.
