Biography

Erwin de Leon is a research associate in the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center at the Urban Institute, where he has authored or coauthored reports and articles on community-based organizations, immigrant nonprofits, government contracting and grants, public education organizations, and stimulus funding of government programs. His research interests include immigrant and minority populations, particularly immigrant and immigrant-serving institutions, the Asian and Pacific Islander community, and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community.

Before joining Urban, de Leon was a research associate at the Aspen Institute’s Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy Program, and a research fellow at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. He is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post.

De Leon received his MS in nonprofit management and PhD in public and urban policy from the New School's Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy.
