With the recent passage of the Second Chance Act, John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Urban Institute are sponsoring a forum on the often-overlooked issue of reentry from local jails. The event is co-hosted by Rep. Danny Davis and Sen. Sam Brownback. With an estimated 12 million releases from jails each year, reentry has an enormous impact on communities around the country. The first national resources on the topic --
Life after Lockup: Improving Reentry from Jail to the Community and
The Jail Administrator’s Toolkit for Reentry -- will be available at the forum.
