Two measures of segregation are used—the indices of dissimilarity and isolation. The report begins with a description of these two indices and the data used for the analysis. The subsequent discussion presents a cross-sectional analysis of the isolation of the poor in the 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas in 1990. The next section covers how segregation of the poor changed from 1970 to 1990 in these areas, and finally the report summarizes the findings of the analysis. | Publication Date: November 14, 1994 | Availability: HTML | Broken Purse Strings: Congressional Budgeting, 1974-88 (Book)A penetrating analysis of the flaws in the federal budget process and specific recommendations for reform. These organizations have been ignored in both public policy debates and scholarly research. As a consequence, crucial features of their operations have not been well understood, including the extent to which government agencies have turned to nonprofit organizations to help deliver publicly financed services and the extent to which government budget decisions affect the revenues of these organizations. | Publication Date: January 01, 1986 | Availability: Order Online |
